Mr. Curtis Wayne Sparks, 89, died Thursday, November 26, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital North-Mississippi in Oxford, MS. The funeral service will be held Monday, November 30, 2020, at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Quarles officiating. Burial will follow in Shiloh Cemetery. The visitation will be held prior to the service from 1:30 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.
Born in Lafayette County to the late Samuel Curtis and Ara Lavada Phillips Sparks, Staff Sergeant Sparks served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Midvalley Pipeline where he worked as an Electronic Technician. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, sound technician and headed up the Shiloh Cemetery committee. Mr. Sparks was a former private pilot and enjoyed woodworking. He and Miss Jimmie have been to 48 states on their motorcycles. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Wilma King.
He is survived by his wife, Jimmie Lee Hodge Sparks of Oxford, MS; two daughters, Angela Slade and her husband, Bill, of Oxford, MS, and Patty Welch of Oxford, MS; son, Michael Sparks of Oxford, MS; sister, Jean Brown of Oxford, MS; brother, Dwight Sparks of Oxford, MS; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
In honor of Staff Sergeant Sparks’ service, the flag of the United States Air Force will be flown at Waller Funeral Home.
