Mrs. Nellie Evans Nix, 88 passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Oak Tree Manor in Amory.  She was born on January 12, 1932 to Grover and Azlie Evans.  Mrs. Nix graduated Greenwood Springs High School and she obtained nursing degrees from Itawamba Junior College and Mississippi University for Women.  She lived most of her life in Aberdeen before moving to Hamilton, MS to be near her family.  Overall, she spent 45 years in healthcare as a nurse working for Dr. Rome Dabbbs, Dr. Scantleberry and later retired from the Aberdeen Monroe County Hospital.  After her retirement, she joined her husband in his lawn service and worked many years.  She was a very talented painter, painting many portraits some of which are on display. In addition to painting, he enjoyed reading and also loved to work in her flower garden with roses being her specialty.  She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Aberdeen, but attended Hamilton Methodist Church until her health failed.

A graveside service will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, December 4, 2020 at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Aberdeen with Dr. Roger McGrew officiating.  Tisdale-Lann Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

She is survived by Johnny and Lisa Imel; Doyle and Carol Thompson; Scott Thompson; Jason and Kerri Thompson; Michael and Anna Lindsey; John Wesley Imel and fiancé Carley Hicks; Mary Lillian Smith; several nieces; nephews; and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clint Nix; son, Brent Nix; and brother, Roger Evans.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.

Memorial may be made to Palmer Home for Children; the Hamilton Methodist Church; or to a charity of choice.

Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery.
