Vernice Laverne Tutor was born on August 16, 1926, in Calhoun County, MS. She lived 94 years here on earth and worked hard all of her life until her health failed. She taught her children the value of a dollar and how to work and love the Lord. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church; where she worshipped until she could no longer attend because of her health. If there is a garden in heaven, she is no doubt getting it ready for spring planting. Through the years, many people have eaten from her garden, and now she can garden again. Her hobbies included cross stitching, knitting, gardening, and mowing grass sometimes even twice a week.

Ms. Vernice married Mitchell Tutor on November 7, 1942. The couple was blessed with four daughters whom she is survived by: Frances Morris of Bruce, Sarah (Bobby) McGreger of Bruce, Barbara(Earl) Swanson of Pittsboro, and Gaye Williams of Bruce, Six Grandchildren: Denise (Kevin) Hall, Jeff (Sunshine) McGreger, Ann (Jason) Dye, Melinda Turner, Michael (Karen) Swanson, and Roxane (Roger) Poynor, 14 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren. Ms. Vernice was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Mary Logan Gregory, Husband Elvis Mitchell Tutor, a brother Carlos Gregory, two sisters Earlene Gregory and Ella Mae Smith, a son-in-law Jimmy Morris, and a grandchild Wendy Swanson.

Visitation will be Monday, December 21, 2020, from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. The funeral service for Ms. Vernice will be held on Monday, December 21, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. James Taylor officiating and her burial will follow in Rocky Mount Cemetery, Pittsboro, MS. Her great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers, Kane Dye, Kyle Dye, Noah McGreger, Trey Hall, Trent Hall, and Tyler Hall.
