Mable T. Woodson of Sturgis died peacefully at home Thursday, June 17, surrounded by her family. She is the last surviving child of Marion Oscar and Pearl Taylor.
Ms. Mable was born April 1, 1922 in Kosciusko, MS and is a graduate of Weir High School. After graduation she moved to Jackson, MS where she began her 38 year career with the telephone company. After WWII she moved to Sturgis, MS where she met the love of her life, Crandall, and made Sturgis her home.
Ms. Mable was active in her church. She loved the Lord and wanted everyone she knew to know how great a God we serve. When asked how she was doing she would often reply, “I’m better than I deserve. He is mighty good to us all.” Her love for the Lord was apparent in her words and actions as she helped so many throughout her life.
Ms. Mable is survived by her son Crandall (Judy) Woodson and daughter Leah (Chuck) Brown. She is also survived by her grandchildren. Jessica (Matt) Wade, Daniel Woodson, Laura (Daniel) Forde, Amanda (Parker) Jacobs, Lauren (Weston) Armstrong, and Rebecca Brown along with five great grand children. She is preceded in death by her husband H. Crandall Woodson and 7 brothers and sisters.
Visitation will be Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 10:00am at Sturgis Baptist Church with a service to follow at 11:00.
