John Weems

John Ross Weems passed away September 9, 2021 at Methodist University Hospital in Memphis at the age of 85. He was born February 20, 1936 to the late Ruth Belk Weems and Ralph Hicks Weems. He graduated from West Point High School and then graduated from Mississippi State University with a Mechanical Engineering degree.

He is survived by his daughter Peggy Read (Stephen) of Collierville, TN; nephews, Ralph Weems, III and Belk Weems, both of West Point; niece, Luann Weems Lewis of West Point; sister-in-law, Mary Anne Weems of West Point; 2 grandchildren, David Ross Read and Abigail Kathleen Read.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Nancy Speetjens Weems, and a brother, Ralph Hicks Weems, Jr.

Funeral services will be 2 PM Sunday September 12, 2021 at Robinson Chapel with Rev. Ford Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Ralph Weems III, Belk Weems, Paul Gentry, Charlie Finch, Mark Read, Randall Weems.
