Mr. Joseph “Joe” Leonard Wray, 82, passed away on October 3, 2021 at North Mississippi Medical Center in West Point. Joe was born on May 1, 1939, in High Point, the son of the late James William and Lucy Tollison Wray. He graduated from West Point High School in 1957. He served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked as a Postal Clerk for 37 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #40 and a Hamasa Ambassador in the Tombigbee Shrine Club. He enjoyed gardening, pottery, wood working, and traveling. He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in West Point. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He married Rubye Barnes Wray on August 5, 1961 in West Point. They were married for 60 years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Erlene Guest and three brothers, James, Wayne, and Olyn Wray.

Visitation will be Saturday, October 9, 2021 from 9:00-11:00 AM at Calvert Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM from Calvert Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. James Towery officiating and assisted by Dr. Joe Wiggins. Burial will follow in Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Rubye Wary of West Point: one daughter, Inger Berger (Casey) of The Woodlands, Texas: two sons, Joey Wray (Cindy) of Double Oak, Texas and Heath Wray (Keller) of Madison: eight grandchildren, Catherine, Christian, and Carson Berger, Jackson Wray, and Katy-Keller, Cassidy, Cade and Malli Wray: one sister, Judy Butler and one brother, William “Red” Wray, both of Tupelo.

Pallbearers will be Ricky Cole, Mike Smith, Mickey Burgess, Butch Boykin, Brad Pettit, and Trevor Johns.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Romeo Group.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl, Memphis, Tennessee 38105 or to French Camp Academy, 1 Fine Place, French Camp, Mississippi 39745.
