Jorge Portillo

1976 – 2021

Jorge Havir Portillo passed away October 20th, 2021 after a 25-year battle with a rare renal disease. He is survived by his mother, Ruth Romanowski, brother, Russell Johnson; sister, Carolina Hamilton; large extended family and many loved ones and friends.

Jorge was a self-employed carpenter, certified welder, and volunteer for people in need until he was no longer physical able. After which, he donated all that he could.

During his struggles with FSGS Jorge thrived with humor, kindness and generosity. While in pain he could make you laugh and the joy he spread was only surpassed by his extraordinary faith in God. His courage and strength have been a positive influence to everyone who witnessed.

A memorial service will be held at 10 AM Saturday October 30, 2021 at Siloam Baptist Church.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 6 PM October 30, 2021 at R & R Vineyard, 50173 Greenwood Springs Rd. Greenwood Springs, MS 38848. Robinson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

  1. Dear Portillo family, I’m sorry for your loss and you have my deepest condolences. The loss of a loved one brings great pain and sorrow but you can gain comfort from Gods word the Bible. Acts 24:15 says “There is going to be a resurrection” so you can see your dear loved one again. A promise from our loving Heavenly Father. I hope this was a source of encouragement for the family.

  2. I worked at Aberdeen several years ago and Jorge was one of my favorite patients. He was always smiling. Praying for y’all to find comfort and peace
