Lavis Coggins, 87, passed away at her residence in Starkville, MS on October 30, 2021, surrounded by her loved ones. She was retired from Mississippi State University as a seamstress.
Mrs. Coggins was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Coggins(Sonny); parents, Wylie H. Jones and Lillie Ray Jones; sisters, Lecter Mae Boswell and Bobbie Gene Arney; brother, Willie (Peck) Jones; granddaughter, Summer McWhorter Pitts; and grandson, Rodney Wayne Smith.
She is survived by her daughters, Wanda Smith of Starkville, MS and Deborah Brown (Barry) of Starkville, MS; sons, Doug Coggins (Vickie) of Sturgis, MS and Donnie Coggins (Angel) of Starkville, MS; 15 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS, with the funeral service immediately following in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Shannon Edwards will conduct the service. Burial will be at Craig Springs Cemetery in Sturgis, MS.
