Mary Charlene Pruett, 91, passed away on Sunday, November 14, 2021. Charlene was born on January 15, 1930 in McCool, to Charles and Lula Rook. Charlene was a lifelong resident of West Point, where she married the love of her life, Sammie on October 24, 1947. She served in many capacities including Knickerbocker, Chandler Insurance, and ultimately for Babcock and Wilcox for 27 years until she retired. Sammie and Charlene were longtime members of Calvary Baptist Church and then helped establish Trinity Baptist Church where she delighted in serving her church family for many years. In 2006, Sammie and Charlene moved to Satsuma, Alabama with their daughter Frances, to be near the VA hospital. While there, they attended First Baptist Church. Her love and faith in Jesus Christ were a true reflection in how she served her family and others.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her siblings: Lola Rook (Clovis) Pruett, Grady Rook, and Zola Rook and a son-in-law, Clifton “Buck” Westfaul.

Charlene is survived by two daughters, Frances Westfaul and Sandra (Eddie) Strickland; three grandchildren, Summerlyn Gwin, Katie (Kyle) Chandler, and Amy Strickland; and four great-grandchildren, Rook Gwin and L.K., Cora, and Sam Chandler.

A family graveside service will be held at Memorial Garden Cemetery in West Point on Monday, November 22, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Mike Smith officiating. Calvert Funeral Home of West Point is honored to be entrusted with the arrangements.

Pallbearers will be Marvin Turnipseed, Billy Gibson, Eddie Strickland, Kyle Chandler, Rook Gwin, and L.K. Chandler. Honorary Pallbearers will be members of her Sunday School Class at Trinity Baptist Church and neighbors on Chickasaw Drive.
