Sulligent, Al – Mary Ann Herndon Hester, 84, finished her earthly course and began her new life in Heaven on Monday, January 3, 2022. She was born in Amory, MS on July 31, 1937, to the late James Felix Herndon and Janie Nichols Herndon Fowlkes.
Ann grew up in Monroe County, one of three girls, in a loving family. She graduated from Amory High School and went work for several years as a Secretary for an Insurance Company. In addition to working in administration, she had the very important job of being a mother as God blessed her with two boys. They were her life and she instilled in them a great love of family and a good work ethic.
She believed in the Lord and was a member of Beaverton Baptist Church for many years, where she was a Sunday school teacher. She helped spread the gospel in many the children’s lives and by far that was one of the greatest accomplishments a person can have. Ann was a loving person, always enjoyed being with her family and in her free time, she liked to do things with her friends. She enjoyed getting out, seeing the countryside and scouring the counties for great yard sales or flea markets. Almost every weekend, she and Shirley Otts, embarked on a treasure hunt at all the local flea markets, and while doing that, they made many great memories. She liked to listen to Gospel and Country music, work cross word puzzles and cooking for friends and family gatherings. Her friends and sons know that they were blessed with a great mother and they will be thankful to God forever.
Ann will be missed dearly by all the friends and family’s lives which she touched during the years.
She is survived by her sons, Mike Cannon (Cathy), Winfield, Al, Mark Cannon (Barbara), Beaverton, AL; a host of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Francis Green (Oakland) and Sara Herndon.
A Celebration of Life Service will take place on Friday, January 7 2022, at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home in Amory, MS with Bro. Jeremy Sorrells officiating.
