Lounez Lewis Scrivner

September 16, 1942 ~ January 19, 2022 (age 79)

Lounez Lewis Scrivner went home to be with her Lord, whom she served faithfully for the age of twelve (12) on Wednesday, January 19, 2022, after a brief illness.  She departed this life from her home in rural Chickasaw Co., surrounded by her loving family.  Sis Lounez was born September 16, 1942 in the Egypt Community of Chickasaw Co. to the late Johnnie Lewis and Vice Leona Wooten Lewis, the 5th of 10 children.  She graduated from Okolona High School in 1960 and graduated from Draughn’s Business College in Jackson, MS. She worked hard all her life: first on the farm where she was born, then as a seamstress at Delta Trouser.  Lou then became a secretary/bookkeeper at S & W and Fortune Manufacturing in Okolona.  She spent 14 years as head of the office for Kent’s Swine Farm in Chickasaw County.  While working publicly, Sis. Lounez was a minister and pastor in the Church of God of Prophecy in Maben, at Fairview and spent the last 22 years of her ministry at Aberdeen Church of God of Prophecy, retiring in 2019.

Sis Scrivner is survived by her husband of  fifty eight years(58) Freddie Lee Scrivner; two daughters, Nerissa Scrivner Aldridge (Ricky) of Hazelhurst, Georgia and Angela Scrivner of Okolona;  two granddaughters, Jessica Aldridge Luna (Martin) Hazelhurst, Ga. And Stephanie Aldridge Walraven (Jacob) of Calhoun, Georgia;  two brothers, Clayton Lewis (Barbara) Algoma and Sammy Lewis (Sherry) of Hatley;  two sisters, Elizabeth Hamric (Wayne) and Kathleen Thornton (Eugene) both of Okolona; and twenty five (25) nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death her parents, 4 brothers, Joe Lee Lewis, Tom Lewis, Earl Lewis and Edd Lewis; one sister, Johnnie Ruth Wright; one niece, Melissa Grace Clements; two brothers in law, Shirley Glen Scrivner and James Wilson Scrivner; and one sister in law, Zena Wilkerson.

A service honoring God for his gift of Sis. Lounez and celebrating her earthly pilgrimage will be held at 2 PM Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Bethany Church of God of Prophecy on Hwy 32 west of Okolona.  Visitation will be from Noon-service time on Tuesday only at the Church. Program participants include Bishop Duke Stone,  Pastor Margaret Browning, Rev. Dean Allen, Eugene Thornton and Pastor Blake Stallins.  A private burial will follow in Lee Memorial Park in Verona.

Pallbearers will include Thomas Earl Lewis, Michael Lewis, Justin Thornton, Steven Lewis, David Lewis and Jacob Walraven. Honorary Pallbearers will be Leslie Hamric, Roy Barnett, Fred Barnett and Johnny Barnett.
