Mother Velma Anderson, 93, transitioned on Monday, March 21, 2022, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, New Albany, MS.

Velma McAlister Anderson was born on September 10, 1928 to the late James "Bud" and Emma Riddle McAlister in New Albany, Mississippi. She entered into eternal rest March 21, 2022. She was the last oldest member of the McAlister family.
Velma accepted Christ at an early age. She was a member of Shady Grove M.B. Church. Mother Velma loved attending church and spending time gardening and enjoying her family. She loved  traveling, shopping, and enjoying family functions where her children and grandchildren would all get together. Velma was employed at Baptist Hospital in Housekeeping during her  working years.
She leaves to cherish her memories her four daughters: Mary Ezell of New Albany, MS, Myra (Walter) Shields of Tupelo, MS, Inez (Cherelle) German of Blue Springs, MS and Rita Rutherford of New Albany, MS, two sons: Sammie (Channon) Williams of Ripley, MS and Joe Paul (Ann) Anderson of Ecru, MS, a special daughter: Penny Gilbert and a daughter-in-law: Alice Williams, five generations of fifty grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Mother Velma was preceded in death by Leroy Williams, her husband: Charlie Roosevelt Anderson, her parents: James "Bud" and Emma McAlister, her sister: Mary Evans, one daughter: Jannie Ray, four sons: James Williams, Amos Williams, Willie B. Williams and L.C. Anderson.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 27, 2022,11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M., Shady Grove M.B. Church, 1341 County Road 73, Myrtle, MS.

Services will be Sunday, March 27, 2022, 1:00 P.M., Shady Grove M.B. Church, 1341 County Road 73, Myrtle, MS.

Burial will be at Palestine M.B. Church Cemetery, 690 CR 830, Blue Mountain, MS.

Serenity-Simmons Funeral Home of New Albany, MS, is in charge of arrangements.
