Mrs. Johnson was born in Vance, MS to the late Henry and Frances Pritchard. She was a longtime member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Hattiesburg, MS. Mrs. Johnson was active in daily church activities. Infamous amongst new parents in the church, she could scoop up any fussy baby into her arms and instantly soothe and rock them to sleep. A lover of all things blue, Mrs. Johnson decorated her home with collections of cobalt glass and willow porcelain. She was a gifted seamstress who enjoyed any project put in front of her. Mrs. Johnson led an active lifestyle and loved to go on long walks. She held a deep love for bluebirds and hummingbirds, always keeping birdhouses, bird seed, and nectar out for them. Whenever she would catch a glimpse of one fluttering by, Mrs. Johnson’s eyes would light up. With a God-given green thumb, she lovingly tended to her garden. She would harvest bulbs and roots to bring to friends and family, carefully detailing exactly how to plant and tend to it, assuming everyone had the natural talent that she did. Mrs. Johnson was fearless while out in nature and had no problem killing a snake if it ventured too close. An excellent cook, she could whip up the best rum cake you’d ever taste. Mrs. Johnson loved to let her personality shine through her own unique style, with a particular love for vests. Each birthday, she would treat herself to a day of shopping to pick out another special vest to add to her collection. At Ava Maria Home, Mrs. Johnson would help organize wine nights. With a glass in hand, she would spend the evening socializing with her dearest friends. She secretly enjoyed being the only one who enjoyed red wine, so she could take home the extras at the end of the night. It goes without saying that Mrs. Johnson lived her life to the fullest and found the most joy in life’s little pleasures. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jerry Dow Johnson; sisters, Ruth Wood and Betty Boyette; brother, Charles Pritchard; and a friend that she loved as a daughter, Kim Hood.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by her daughter, Jerri Ann Stevenson and her husband, Jack of Bartlett, TN; brothers, John Pritchard of Hackberry, AZ and Dennis Pritchard of Amory, MS; and two grandchildren, John Robert Stevenson V of Nashville, TN and Daniel Dow Stevenson of Pt. Heuneme, CA.
