Listen to this obituary

Berry Daniel “Danny” Lott Jr. was born on December 29th, 1969, in Starkville, MS and gained his heavenly wings on June 1st, 2022, at the age of 52 years old. Danny graduated from Starkville Academy in 1988 and graduated from Mississippi State University in 1992. He was a member of Sigma Chi Fraternity while at Mississippi State University.

Danny’s life is the perfect example of living life to the fullest. He was the definition of pure joy. When Danny wasn’t working, he was an avid golfer, turkey hunter, bass fisher, master griller, and football official for high school, junior college, and college. He had such a servant’s heart, and, on any day, you could catch him mowing the neighbor’s yard, lending a helping hand to those in need, or helping one of his daughters with different tasks. He loved listening to Chris Stapleton, drinking an old fashioned, driving ten miles under the speed limit, and sneaking table food to his beloved, spoiled dogs. Everyone who knows Danny would agree that he was the most selfless person and never put himself first. He was humble, patient, caring, giving, loving, encouraging, and so very kind. He truly was one of a kind. He represented our Lord Jesus Christ in all that he did, and he reminded everyone to seek first the Kingdom and that all else shall be added.

He will be terribly missed, but his legacy on this earth will forever live on in the hearts of all those who knew and loved him.

He is preceded in death by his father Dr. Berry “Buddy” Daniel Lott Sr. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Lott; three daughters, Morgan, Taylor, and Kyleigh; his mother, Rita Lott; his brother, Brian Lott (Ellen); two nephews, Larson and Whitten; the son he never had, Dr. Zack Elkins (Haley and Everly); and his fur babies.

A visitation is scheduled for Sunday, June 5th at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS from 4:00-7:00 pm. A second visitation will be on Monday, June 6th at Pinelake Church in Starkville from 10:00-11:00 am with the service immediately following at 11:00 am.

Memorial donations may be made to Children’s of Alabama Cardiovascular ICU, 1600 7th Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35233, www.childrensal.org.
