Mrs. Pumphrey was born December 18, 1930, to the late Richard and Bricy Caldwell. A longtime and loyal member of St. Andrew’s Methodist Church, you could always count on her knowledge of scripture and wisdom she drew from it. Mrs. Pumphrey was an avid reader, loved to watch golf, and always had a quilting project in the works. With a delight for hosting her family, she would lovingly prepare meals with ingredients picked from her garden. Affectionately known as “Mamaw”, she was an involved and present grandmother and great-grandmother, loving each generation as much as the last. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pumphrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Samuel Goza Pumphrey and her sons, Stan Pumphrey and Tony Pumphrey.
Mrs. Pumphrey is survived by her daughter-in-law, Karen Pumphrey of Nesbit, MS; grandchildren, Tony Pumphrey and his wife, April of Oxford, MS, Cortney Pumphrey of Coldwater, MS, and Jake Pumphrey of Byhalia, MS; 7 great-grandchildren; and her best friend, Sammi Davis of Alabama.
