A memorial service for Sandra M. Scucchi will be held Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Welch Funeral Home in Starkville, MS. Burial will be at a later date in Chadron, NE. In lieu of flowers a memorial may be given to Crosspoint Baptist Church Building Fund or Samaritan’s Purse for the Operation Christmas Child Project.

Sandra (Marshall) Scucchi was born February 21, 1947 to Martin “Fuzz” and Lucille (Scott) Marshall in Chadron, NE. She passed on to her eternal Heavenly home July 1, 2022 after a brief bout with cancer. Sandra lived her first year on the well-known J-L ranch in Sioux, Co., NE. The next four years were spent on a family ranch and grandparents’ farm in Dawes Co., NE where she was joined by sister, Mary Lou. In 1952 the family moved to Palisade, NE where Sandra’s father was herdsman for Schroeder Cattle Company. Sandra attended elementary school for five years at Palisade. In 1958 the family of four moved to a ranch that became known as the 4X ranch southwest of Harrison, NE on the Niobrara River where they worked as a team in operating the cattle ranch. Sandra continued her education at Harrison Elementary and Sioux Co. High School where she graduated in 1965. After HS graduation she attended Seattle Pacific University, Arkansas State University, University of Missouri at St. Louis, and Mississippi State University where she received a B.A. in sociology. She also studied concert piano at the National Palace of Fine Arts in Mexico.

Sandra met Robie P. Scucchi, Jr. at Arkansas State University. They were married June 16, 1968 in Harrison NE. They lived three years in the St. Louis, MO area where Robie taught art and Sandra did long term substitute teaching. They moved to Starkville, MS in 1971 where Robie was a Professor of Art at Mississippi State University and Sandra was employed in the MSU Comptroller’s Office. Their shared love of adventure led them to brief residences in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico and Cortona, Italy. Sandra and Robie also had a successful quarter horse farm for several years prior to Robie’s passing in 2000. Sandra was active in Crosspoint Baptist Church, a ladies Bible study, and Starkville Civic League. Sandra was a devout Christian having accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior when she was a child. Her faith provided guidance, strength, comfort, and peace in many situations she encountered.

Sandra is survived by sister, Mary Lou Marshall, foster sister, Pat Weinhold (Alan) and their family, in-laws Thad Scucchi, Martha Elsrode, Mary Kavanaugh, Charlotte Fullmer, Joy Ann Holley, aunt, Margaret Marshall, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews as well as many friends. She was preceded in death by husband Robie, parents, Martin and Lucille Marshall, parents-in-law, Robie P. Sr. and Denver Scucchi, brothers-in-law, Jimmy Scucchi and John Scucchi.
