Listen to this obituary

A loving God came and took our precious father home on October 18, 2022. Walter W. Koehn was born to Jonas H and Lena (Unrah) Koehn on December 2, 1931 near Galva, KS. He was blessed with a full life reaching the age of ninety.

Dad, grew up, was married and began his livelihood in the Galva Community. He was the youngest boy in the family with five brothers and three sisters.

Father gave his heart to God and was baptized into the Church of God in Christ Mennonite on November 26, 1944 by Minister Jesse Johnson. He remained faithful and devoted to his vows and we look forward with surey to meeting him in heaven.

On December 20, 1953 Dad was united in marriage to Elizabeth Koehn. God gave hem sixty eight precious years together. Through the union God blessed them with three sons and three daughters. We all learned to know Dad as a very happy easy going Father. Yet strong in teaching the Faith.

He grew up on a dairy farm learning young the responsibilies that are required to own and care for a business that will sustain and provide for a family. His interests in new technology and available equipment kept him profitable in his endeaverors.

Above all Dad was blessed with an adoptive spirit from heaven. He loved all people and each one was special to him. After moving to Mississippi in 1974 to continue farming for a livelihood he met many new people which was such joy to him. When two of his sons established a seed treating business on his yard and many people came by, Dad was enjoing life to the fullest, … visiting… Dad didn’t know a stranger. Most customers were greeted with a friendly “hey there” and a non forgotten relationship had been established. Dad, as many people knew had a remarkable

memory. Details of happenings years ago were still vivid to him. He could quote many scriptures from the Bible which book was very precious. He loved to lead in prayer among people, even in farmers business meetings.

Dad carried that adoptive spirit with him to the Oakwood Retirement Center where he resided until death. Many people recognized it and were blessed by his loving presence. Everybody was special to him and he keenly loved all. He loved to trace each caregivers genealogy and to recognize their prodigy.

We as his children and grandchildren look forward to meeting him in heaven someday.
