Phillip Huey Sappington, age 73, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2023 at NMMC in Hamilton, AL. He was born April 26, 1949 to Gundy and Evelyn Sappington in Memphis, TN. Phill was a 1967 graduate of Ecru High School and attended Itawamba Community College. He was a trainer and competitor in the National Cutting Horse Association since 1971. Phill finished in the Top 15 in the Senior Open in 2019. He was a faithful member of Hackleburg Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Sunday, March 19, 2023 at Endville Cemetery. Browning Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Shelia Carpenter Sappington; a son, Justin Sappington (Misty); a grandson, Gunner Sappington, a granddaughter, Blevyn Sappington; two brothers, Jim Sappington (Marilyn) and Greg Sappington (Debra), and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Phillip was preceded in death by his parents.
