Garneita Faye Bryant Murphree, 89, formerly of Old Town, MS, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, April 28, 2023. She was born on August 07, 1933 to the late James Fonzie Bryant and Evie Ann Nabors Bryant.

She accepted Christ as a child at Old Town Baptist Church where she was a member, and came back some 50 plus years later and rejoined the church when they moved back to Bruce from Coldwater, MS. She was very active in church and taught numerous Girls Auxillary and Sunday School Classes for years. She married Dewey Murphree on February 04, 1950. They farmed a couple of years in the Old Town area and then moved to Memphis, TN. She served as a teacher's aide in the Coldwater Elementary School in her later life.

She is survived by her husband, Dewey Murphree; son, Kenneth (Beverly) Murphree; daughter, Kay (Glenn) McElhaney; sister, Marie Bryant Bloodworth; sister in-law, Dorothy Johnson; grandson, Michael Guy; granddaughter, Megann (Zach) Jenkins; great-grandchildren: Nathan, Macy, and Luke Jenkins. Great grandson, Scotty Wayne Murphree.

Garneita was preceded in death by her parents, James Fonzie Bryant and Evie Ann Nabors Bryant; son, Larry Wayne Murphree; granddaughter, Christian Lee Murphree; sister, Corinne Bryant Crocker; five brothers and sister-in-laws: John Selma Bryant, Verlon Ferguson Bryant; James Arlis Bryant, Birtis McGreger Bryant; David Herman Bryant, Annice Green Bryant; Victor Lee Bryant, Glady McGreger Bryant; Hollis Vaughn Bryant, Eunice James Bryant. Three brother-in-laws: Glenn Wesson Crocker, Keith Brooks Bloodworth, and Fred Harold Murphree. There are a host of nieces and nephews and great nephews and nieces, there were even a few great-great nieces and nephews. Many of which have preceded her in death. She had a dear christian friend and neighbor, Renee White. Special nieces included Jane Roane, Charlotte Madison, Kathryn Bryant and Betty Crocker. and a special nephew Steve Bryant.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 01, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Bruce, MS. The funeral service honoring Garneita's life will take place on Monday, May 01, 2023, at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Parker Memorial Funeral Home with Rev. Greg Hurt the Pastor of Highland Baptist Church, Senatobia, officiating. Kenneth Murphree will be will be honoring his mother with the special music. Keith Bloodsworth, Steve Bryant, Michael Guy, Zach Jenkins, Scotty Wayne Murphree, and Ralph Nabors will carry Garneita to rest in Bruce Cemetery. Glenn Crocker and Roger Johnson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
