George Clay Rushing, 54, died Wednesday, July 12, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital – North Mississippi. The funeral will be Saturday, July 15, 2023, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Ken Hanks officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 9:00 A.M. Burial will follow the service in Cambridge Cemetery.

Clay was born July 24, 1968, in Oxford, MS, to the late George David Rushing and Sue Keel Rushing. He was an Automotive enthusiast who over the years spent all of his time learning everything he could about cars. His knowledge of older vehicles was unlimited. Clay was an active member of the Rod Benders car club in Batesville, Mississippi. He enjoyed car shows, painting cars, drag races and swap meets. His passions were Ford Mustangs, talking shop with his buddies, and rebuilding his “Smokey and the Bandit” Trans Am. He was preceded in death by his parents, George David Rushing and Sue Keel Rushing.

Clay leaves behind a son, James Chandler Allen who he loved dearly, several cousins, and he leaves behind a group of friends who he considered brothers. He also leaves behind his loyal dog, Sam.

In his honor, his friends will be in the funeral procession in their vintage cars.
