David Keith Rowan

David Keith Rowan, age 76, passed away on Sunday, August 20, 2023 at NMMC in Tupelo. David was born December 31, 1946 to Jamieson Clark Rowan and Annie Lois Clayton Rowan Fitzgerald. He was a member of West Heights Baptist Church. David was a proud Sgt., in the U.S. Marine Corp., having served in the Vietnam War and he was awarded the Rifle Sharpshooter Badge, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 2 Stars, Combat Action Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a novice woodworker, woodworking wasn’t just a hobby, he learned to master it. There are many homes graced by his work. And he was a great mentor to his grandsons and others. David also enjoyed working on antique cars, fishing and attending estate sales.

Services will be at 4:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Brian Sansing, Rev. David Hamilton and Rev. Paul Sims officiating; burial will follow in Pontotoc Memorial Gardens. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is honored to assist the family with the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Jan Hill Rowan; three daughters, Leigh-Ann Corder (Denny), Camille Rodgers (James) and Lauren Cornett (Chris); one sister, Marie Garrett (Holland); one brother, Gregg Fitzgerald (Anita); mother-in-law, Katherine Hill; four grandchildren, Kelsey Corder, Ethan Corder, Adam Rodgers and Ellinor Rodgers; one great-grandson, Jace Reade Stewart; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father, Byron Fitzgerald; his father-in-law, Royce Hill; and a grandson, Evan Parker Cornett.

Pallbearers will be, Denny Corder, Ethan Corder, James Rodgers, Adam Rodgers, Chris Cornett and Brad Hill.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 P.M. Monday and from 3 to 4 P.M. Tuesday, at the funeral home.
