June Vaughn

Listen to this obituary

June Ferguson Vaughn was born on October 19, 1952, to Tommy and Josie Ferguson in the Rocky Mount Community outside of Bruce, MS. She was a 1970 graduate of Bruce High School where she was named salutatorian. Following high school, she attended Mississippi State University from which she graduated in 1974 with a degree in accounting with honors.

June was married to Rickie A. Vaughn for 52 years during which they built a beautiful life together which included three special children, Amber, Katie, and their infant daughter.

Life eventually brought June back to Bruce to continue to raise her family. She was a longstanding member of First Baptist Church in Bruce where June was an active member of WMU. She was also an honorary member of the GFWC Fine Arts Club of Bruce with 25 years of service.

In recent years, June and Rickie relocated to Southaven, MS to be an active part of the lives of their children and grandchildren. Being Nana to her grands was one of her greatest joys and her favorite title. While in Desoto County, she was a member of Longview Heights Baptist Church in Olive Branch, MS.

June was known to wear a smile and almost always you could find her looking beautiful in a splash of red. Early in life, June experienced grief and trials, but she was never deterred. She allowed those experiences to give her the tenacity to love life and love people to the fullest. Known to be the “hostess with the mostess”, she opened her heart and her home to family, friends, and her community often. As much as she loved others, she was equally loved by a long list of family and friends in return. They will treasure her memory always. Most importantly she leaves a legacy of love that points us all to our Lord and Savior.

June Ferguson Vaughn is survived by her husband, Rickie A. Vaughn; daughters, Amber (Hugh) Melton and Katie Wells; grandchildren, Fisher Melton, Caden Melton, Josie Wells, and Brooks Wells; sisters, Shirley Self (Gerald Bagwell) of Clinton, MS, and Jennifer (Joel) Price of Huntsville, AL. June is preceded in death by her infant daughter; father, Tommy Cecil Ferguson; mothers Josie Tutor Ferguson and Nimogene Foster Ferguson; sister, Ruth Ann Ferguson; brother, Veottis Ferguson.
