Evelyn “Jimmie” Bryan

Guntown- Evelyn “Jimmie” Bryan, 90, passed away peacefully at her residence on January 27, 2024, in Guntown, MS, departing this life to be with her Heavenly Father. She was born on October 28, 1933, in Palmetto, MS.

Evelyn was a graduate of Verona High School, MS. She was well-known for owning a popular grocery store in Alpine, MS with her late husband, Baremore ‘Lefty’ Bryan, Jr. Additionally, she worked as a clerk at the North Mississippi Health Department, contributing to her community. Evelyn enjoyed playing dominos and was a familiar face at the Guntown Community Center. She cherished the time spent with her family, especially sharing many happy moments with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy and laughter into her life.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday January 31, 2024 at Waters Funeral Home in Baldwyn, with Bro. Chris McClusky officiating. Burial will be in the Lee Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 -8 p.m. Tuesday January 30, 2024 at Waters Funeral Home, friends and the community have opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate Evelyn’s life.

Evelyn was predeceased by her loving husband, Baremore ‘Lefty’ Bryan, Jr., her parents Amos and Rada Talley of Palmetto, MS, and her great-grandchild, Emma Jones. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her family. Survivors include her brothers, Charles Talley (Barbra) of Palmetto, MS, and Bud Talley (Dot) of Verona, MS.

Evelyn’s children, who mourn her passing, are Mitzie & Frank Prather, Lynda (Boo) & Mike Wages, Baremore Bryan III, and Travis & Angie Bryan. Her grandchildren include John & Megan Prather, Ben & Karmon Prather, Jessica & Cameron Jones, Kristy Raby, Bryan & Rachel Wages, Marshal Bryan, Mary Kathryn & Will Hall, Morgan Hogue, Bridgett & Michael Holland, Montana & Karter Porter, and Talley Bryan.

Evelyn’s journey through life was marked by her dedication to family, faith, and community, leaving a lasting impact on all who knew her.
