James “Pete” Neeley

Kirkville- James “Pete” Neeley, 82, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, February 08, 2024. He loved working outdoors, in his garden, driving and playing on his tractor and cookouts with his family. He moved to Illinois shortly after he finished school and later moved back to MS. Pete aka “Birdman” drove OTR for Relax-O-Lounger, Mid-South Packers and for Letson Farms. He worked for Day-Brite for over 20 years. He was a founding member of First Ind. Baptist Church. He loved his family and was looking forward to meeting his great-grandaughter.

Funeral services will be at Waters Funeral Home on Saturday, February 10, 2024 @ 2:00 p. m. with Bro. Toby Mears and Bro. William Copeland officiating. Burial will be in Kirkville Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Pat Neeley of Kirkville; children, Tim Neeley of Tupelo, Rebecca Walker of Tupelo, Kim Neeley Scott (Brandon) of Baldwyn, Margie Scott and Wendy Nanney (Jason) all of Baldwyn; grandchildren, Alison Walker of Tupelo, Sarah-Neeley/Adams (Destyn), Eva Cheyenne Wilbanks of Baldwyn, Brooke Wilbanks of Baldwyn, Elizabeth Scott, Bradyon Scott, Jace and Jorja Michael, Danielle and Rossi Hopkins and a host of other nieces, nephews, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William Leroy and Eva Lee Watts Neeley, brother, JC Neeley; sisters, Hester “Lee” Neeley Moody and baby girl Neeley.

Pallbearers will be Jace Michael, Mike Underwood, Destyn Adams, Carl King, Jason Nanny Colton Byrd, Wayne Abbott, Jeff Donahue and Brandon Scott.

Visitation will be at Waters Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 a. m. until service time @ 2:00 p.m.
