Mr. Patrick William “Pat” Haley, 96, died Thursday, April 25, 2024, at his home in Oxford, MS. The funeral will be Monday, April 29, 2024, at 11:30 A.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Robert Allen and Rev. Don Gann officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow in Oxford Memorial Cemetery.

Pat was born on October 1, 1927, to the late Opal Kelley and W. P. Haley. He was a World War II Veteran, enlisting twice, serving first in the U.S. Navy, then in the Army. As a lifetime member of the VFW, Pat’s commitment to his fellow veterans extended long after his service ended. A native of Oxford, he cared deeply for his community, serving as a city Alderman for 13 years, and was an active member of First Baptist Church. He was Master Mason of O. D. Smith Lodge, serving the chapter faithfully for 65 years. Pat was a retired contractor and owner of Pat Haley Construction, leaving behind a legacy of trustworthy and diligent work. In his retirement, he enjoyed keeping his hands busy with woodworking that his children could only describe as “Daddy’s Projects”. He worked carefully to replicate many iconic locations around Oxford, capturing everything from the postered walls of Taylor Grocery, to the green-felted tables of the long lost Purvis Pool Hall. Pat took the most pride in his replica of First Baptist Church, carving from memory the building he’d known and loved his entire life.

Above all, Pat’s greatest joy came from being with his children, grandchildren, and friends, especially his daily visits with his Beacon Buddies. In addition to his parents, Pat was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Maudie Appleton Haley and his many siblings.

Pat is survived by his daughters, Deborah Haley Littrell of Oxford, MS and Anna Haley Purvis and her husband, J.B., of Oxford, MS; son, Doug Haley and his partner, Duane Garrison, of Charleston, SC; grandchildren, Patrick Littrell (Jennifer) of Florissant, CO, Paul Littrell (Melissa) of Colorado Springs, CO, and Matt Purvis (Haley) of Decatur, MS; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Littrell, Maxine Littrell, Isabella Littrell, Penelope Purvis, and Pippa Purvis.

The family wishes to give thanks to the wonderful care given by Gentiva Hospice and their amazing staff, Lotts of Care for such wonderful around the clock care, and the many friends who prayed daily and made visits.

Expressions of sympathy or memorial contributions in Pat’s honor may be made to First Baptist Church, 800 Van Buren Avenue, Oxford, MS.
