Fayrene Webb Gillespie

Mrs. Fayrene “Fay” Webb Gillespie, 81, passed away on Monday, April 27, 2026, at her home in Oxford, MS. The funeral service will be Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Reverend Chris Williams officiating. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow at North Oxford Baptist Church Cemetery.

Fay was born on March 5, 1945 in Pontotoc County, MS to the late Dewey and Pauline Webb.

She was a devoted educator who dedicated many years to teaching in the Lafayette County School District, and Oxford School District, including Bramlett Elementary School. Fay had a lasting impact on the lives of her students and was known for her kindness, patience, and commitment to education.

A faithful member of North Oxford Baptist Church since the early 1970s, Fay was deeply rooted in her church community and lived a life guided by her faith.

In addition to her parents, Fay was preceded in death by her siblings, Sarah Stringer, Paul Webb, Lena Nicholas, James Webb, Gene Webb, and Wardene Webb.

Mrs. Gillespie is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, Keith Gillespie of Oxford, MS; son, Greg Gillespie of Tupelo, MS; sister, Martha Herring of Warrior, AL; a brother, Clay Webb of Oxford; and three grandchildren, Guy, Allie Beth, and Caroline Grace.
