Betty Ann Parker
New Albany- Betty Ann Parker, 91, passed away on Tuesday, June 02, 2026. She was born in Union County on November 27, 1934. She was the daughter of the late, Irene Armstrong Parker and Grady Cecil Parker.
Betty’s education began at Ellistown Elementary School and continued at Sherman High School, receiving her diploma in April,1952. Her love of learning led to Wood Junior College, Mathiston, MS, where she earned a diploma of Arts degree in May 1954. Her educatin continued at Blue Mountain College, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree on May 28, 1956.
As a young graduate in June 1956, Betty gained employment with Standard Oil U.S.A. (Chevron) in New Orleans, LA. Moving from her home in Ellistown, Betty began her professional career in the oil industry. Her last two years with Standard Oil were in Houston,TX, Betty retired in August 1992 with 36 years of meritorious service. Upon retirement, Betty moved home to Mississippi residing in New Albany.
Betty’s faith development began at Ellistown Baptist Church. In New Orleans she was an active member of First Baptist Church. Moving to Houston, Betty united with Second Baptist Church. At Second Baptist Church, Betty renewed her friendship with Jo Beth Young, the wife of Dr. Ed Young, Pastor. Jo Beth and Betty were students together at Blue Mountain College.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Irene Armstrong Parker and Grady Cecil Parker.
She was survived by numerous Armstrong and Parker family members.
The family will receive friends, at 10:00, Saturday, June 06, 2026 at Waters Funeral Home with services at 11:00 a. m. with Bro. Jerry Basden officiating.
