Alan Ross Epting, 62 years old, from Baldwyn, MS, passed away from respiratory failure on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at Sanctuary Hospice House. He was born August 30, 1963 in Nashville, TN to the late Ross and Libby Epting. Alan worked as a cook, furniture builder, police officer (MSU, Starkville campus and Webster County), US Army Crew Chief during Desert Storm, and lastly as a diesel mechanic (ASC certified thru most of his career), before becoming disabled from COPD and eventually esophageal cancer.
Alan is survived by his wife, Margaret Colbert Epting (2006), three sons, Blake Ellison (Audrey), Adam (Amy), and Nic (Tatiana), three grandsons, several in-laws, cousins, and his pets, specially L.B. (Lil Butt), his dachshund. Alan was preceded in death by his parents (Ross and Libby), brother (Rodney), stepson (Andrew), uncle (Mike), and cousin (Wanda).
Alan’s memorial service is Friday, June 12, 2026 at 10 AM at Waters funeral home in Baldwyn, MS. We invite family and friends join us in honoring his memory.
