David Michael Sockwell

July 28, 1964 ~ July 4, 2026

David M. Sockwell, 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones and leaving a legacy of kindness, integrity, and devotion to his family and friends. He will be remembered for his generous spirit, quiet strength, and the positive impact he made on everyone who knew him. David cherished time with his family and found joy in simple moments. He approached each day with compassion, humility, and a willingness to help others. His memory will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.

David was born on July 28, 1964, to the late Bobby and Shirley Marie Clark Sockwell and was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He loved being in the kitchen and cooking for his family and friends who especially enjoyed the nights when they were treated to his infamous spaghetti. As a trucker, he enjoyed listening to audio books as he traveled all over the United States and felt blessed to have seen so many different parts of the country. He was a former heavy equipment operator for the City of Oxford and Waller Funeral Home.

David is survived by his daughter, Ali Sockwell of Moss Point, MS; two sons, Wayne Sockwell of Tupelo, MS and Greg Sockwell and his fiancé, Jennifer of Glen, MS; a brother, Robert Sockwell of Oxford; four grandchildren, Allen Sockwell, Samuel Sockwell, Cade Sockwell and Janae Bailey Sockwell as well as many dear family and friends who will forever treasure his memory. He was preceded in death by loved ones who welcomed him Home including his parents and his sister, Linda Marie Mize.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that those wishing to honor David’s memory consider performing an act of kindness in his name. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew and loved him.
