Ms. Betty Jean Miller, 63, transitioned on Friday, November 6, 2020 at Baptist-East Hospital in Memphis, TN.

Betty Jean Tipler Shelton Miller was born September 25, 1957 in Michigan City, MS, to Fannie M. Reaves-Tipler and the late John T. Tipler, Sr.  Betty accepted Christ as her personal savior at an early age at Everette Chapel M.B. Church.  She later joined New Life Christian Center, under the leadership of Pastor Ronnie Franklin.  Where she served faithfully as an  Usher until  her health failed.  She  was also a  Breast Cancer survivor since 1995.

Betty was a proud graduate of Ashland High School, Class of 1976.  She worked as an Accountant for several years at Frankie’s Car Sales in Memphis, TN.

Betty was untied in holy matrimony to the late Melvin Shelton, and to this union two children were born.  Later she married James Miller.

She leaves to cherish her memories:  her mother Fannie Reaves-Tipler of Ashland, MS,  three sons:  Marlon (Tamica) Shelton of Ashland, MS,  Monteco  (Tammy) Cohen, Rico Miller both of Memphis, TN, one daughter: Metrico (Kenny) Noel of Memphis, TN,  two special daughters:  Felicia McGrit and  Denise Swauney of Memphis, TN, 15 grandchildren: Tirease, Damion, Marlon Jr., Jermichael, Takirra, Diamond, Jermie Jr., Antonia, Thomas, Tasha, Malakhi, Derica, Emara, Emmitt, and Kelsey, five great-grandchildren,  four sisters: Stella Jinkins Tipler, Doris (Aaron) Hester, Elma (Danny) Ayers, Annette (AL) Bails all of Memphis, TN, sister-in-law: Mary Tipler,  four brothers: Horace (Gail) Tipler, John T. Tipler Jr., both of Ashland, MS, Oscar (Mary) Tipler of Memphis, TN and Earnest Reaves Jr. of Chicago, IL, one aunt: Hattie Hampton, two uncles: Frank Reaves and Elmon Reaves, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and very special friends.

She is preceded in death by her father, John T. Tipler, Sr.,  one son Jermie M. Shelton, Sr.,  one brother  Franklin (Bee) Tipler, one sister Lillian Hampton, her grandparents Andrew and Fannie Reaves, Walter and Irene Tipler who raised her.

Graveside Services will take place on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 11a.m., New Life Christian Center Church Cemetery in Ashland, MS. Serenity-Autry Funeral Home of Holly Springs is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 13, 2020 from 4-7p.m., at Serenity-Autry Funeral Home Chapel in Holly Springs.
