TUPELO — Carl Freeman Gattis, 78, died on Wednesday December 09, 2020, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford. Born November 4, 1942 in Guntown, MS, he was the son of Sydney Freeman Gattis and Sara Isabelle Whitaker Gattis. He served in the Marine Corp and worked as a truck driver instructor for ICC. He married Linda Rose May on August 22, 1969, a union that lasted 51 years. He enjoyed good conversation, gospel music, his family and his many friends.

A celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 12, 2020 at 2 PM at Holland Funeral Directors – Tupelo Chapel. Visitation will be on Saturday from Noon – service time at Tupelo Chapel. Burial will be in the Bethlehem Church of the Lord Jesus Christ Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Rose Gattis of Saltillo; sons, Anthony Scott Gattis of Saltillo and Stephen Gattis of North Carolina, and daughters, Andrea Gattis of Saltillo, Carol Nix (Glenn) of Houlka, MS, and Melissa Hoedemaker (Victor) of Baldwyn; grandchildren, Tyler and Sarah Nix, Damon Gattis, Cyle Mejorado; great-grandchild Kayden Mejorado; brothers, Lawrence Gattis (Freeda) of Saltillo; sisters, Barbara G. Sanford (James Dalton) of Skyline, Mary Alice Finney (Ezra) of Belden, and Ella Mae Turner of Saltillo; and countless nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several siblings; and grandchild, TJ Gattis.

Pallbearers will be Scott Gattis, Glenn Nix, Tyler Nix, Victor Hoedemaker, Chuck Hudson, and Mike Gattis.
