Nancy Hawkins, a beloved wife, aunt, and sister, passed away on June 9, 2026, at age 83. Born on August 23, 1942, into a large Mayfield family in Oxford, Mississippi. A private graveside service will be held in Oxford Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Allen officiating.
Nancy attended Oxford Public Schools, graduating from University High School with the class of 1960. She also attended the University of Mississippi and worked for several years before marriage to her beloved husband, Tom. Tom and Nancy were faithful members of Bellevue Baptist Church in Cordova, Tennessee, where she was active in lady’s bible study.
For 56 years, she and Tom were married. Nancy was an avid homemaker who enjoyed the simple pleasures of life. She was a wonderful aunt who doted on her nieces and great nieces and nephews. She loved her extended family spending every Christmas of her life in Oxford, mentoring her family and leaving a legacy of love. She will be missed.
Nancy is survived by her sister, Sylvia Pryor (Jim); four nieces, Holly Hawkins Clark (Trey), Kimberly Hawkins Laughlin (Danny), Lee Pryor Mullen (Steve), Hilarie Pryor Bain (Kevin); and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas P. Hawkins; her parents, Nannie Seale Sorrells Mayfield and Jack Lamar Mayfield, Sr; brother, Jack Lamar Mayfield, Jr.; and niece Amanda Mayfield Scott.
