She was a longtime teacher’s aide at Lafayette Elementary School.  Following her retirement, she enjoyed accompanying her late husband, Winston Bruce, on his trucking routes across the country. She was social by nature and enjoyed spending time with her friends and family and participating in whatever activities were on the books. Her family will miss her homecooked meals and recall that everything she cooked was delicious even though she never had to use a recipe. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bruce was preceded in death by a brother, Edmond Wingo.

She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Ann Pruitt of Etta, MS; a son, Winston Ralph Bruce, Jr. and his wife, Judy of Oxford; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Bruce’s memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

  1. Dear Bruce family, I am sorry for your loss and you have my deepest sympathy. The loss of a loved one brings great pain and sorrow but you can gain comfort from Gods word the Bible. Acts 24:15 says, “There is going to be resurrection” so you can see your dear loved ones again. This is a promise from our loving Heavenly Father. I hope this was a source of comfort for the family.
