Paul Wendell Summerford, 83, passed away on April 17, 2022 at his residence in Sturgis, MS. He graduated from Sturgis High School and was a retired operations manager with Borden, Inc. and a cattle farmer. He was an original member of Sturgis Volunteer Fire Department, on the Board of Directors for Bradley Water Association, Co-Treasurer for the Pleasant Ridge Cemetery, and member of Friendship Baptist Church, where he was the choir director for 12 years.
Mr. Summerford was preceded in death by his parents, John T. Summerford and Virginia Quinn Summerford; and brother, David Summerford.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ernestine Dempsey Summerford of Sturgis, MS; daughter, Michelle Polk (Michael) and grandson, Ford Polk (Abi), all of Starkville, MS; four nieces, Jean Walsh, Marsha Maggio, Kimberly Rowell, and Nicole Canter; and two nephews, Thomas Summerford and Larry McIntyre.
Visitation is scheduled for Wednesday, April 20, 2022 from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church in Sturgis, MS, with the funeral service immediately following. Brent Cobb and Jeremy McCrory will conduct the service. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Sturgis.
