-Longtime Tupelo Psychologist, Minster, Mental Health Advocate, Community supporter and faithful member of the First United Methodist Church in Tupelo realized the promises of his faith and met his Savior from his cottage home at United Methodist Senior Services on Friday, June 10, 2022. Dr. Fleming was the husband of Martha Fleming. They married in Greenville, Ms. on Aug. 12, 1972 and were longtime partners in the mental health field. Dr. Fleming left a legacy of profound service to his fellowman. He was a true renaissance man whose vast knowledge of so many subjects and adventurous spirit led him to own 5 airplanes which he flew and build the 6th himself. He was the first minister at First Christian Church on McCullough in Tupelo in 1962. In addition to Martha, he is survived by his sons, Timothy Fleming, DVM and wife Millie of Southaven and Patrick Fleming (Paula) of Caledonia, a daughter, Susan Reid (Shay) of Keller, Tx. and Martha’s family whom he loved dearly, Pamela Barnes and Jack Talley of Houston, Tx. and Richard “Rick Wackerfuss (Toni) of Memphis; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He had 5 siblings, 4 brothers and a sister. He was preceded in death by his daughter by marriage, Barbara White, his parents and a sibling.
Dr. Fleming, just as he did in life gave of himself in death by being an anatomical gift to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. A memorial service to honor his remarkable life is set for Saturday, August 13, 2022 from the Sanctuary of First United Methodist Church in Tupelo with Dr. Embra Jackson and Rev. Andy Ray officiating. A full obituary will follow closer to the time of the service.
