Nettleton-Mr. Alvie Addison, Jr., everyone’s favorite “bait” man, departed this life for his life for his new journey from North Miss. Medical Center in Tupelo on Thursday, October 13, 2022.  He was 90 years old.  Mr. Addison was born in Tupelo on March 10, 1032 to the late Alvie Elbert Addison, Sr. and Vida Flora Brown Addison.  He answered the call of duty to serve his country during the Korean War enlisting in the U. S. Army and was honorably discharged after his service.  He married the love of his life, Mrs. Catherine Wheelock in 1956, a marriage of 45 years until her death in 2001.  Mr. Alvie loved the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting and owned Addison Bait Shop in Memphis several years before returning to this area and owning Poor Boy Bait Shop on the Lee/Pontotoc line for years.  Skilled with his hands, he was a carpenter/repairman on the side.  Mr. Alvie lived a quiet life, minded his business, took care of his wife and family and made a lot of friends along the way.  He will be missed.

A service celebrating his life, with military honors, will take place at 1 PM Saturday, Oct. 15, 2021 in the Sadie M. Holland Memorial Chapel at Holland Funeral Directors-Tupelo.  Friends and family will speak.  Private burial will be on Monday at 10 AM at Lee Memorial Park in Verona.  For those unable to attend, the service may be viewed at www.hollandfuneraldirectors.com/Livestreaming at 1 PM Saturday and will be permanently archived thereafter.

Mr. Alvie is survived by his three children, Alvie Addison, III and wife, Judy, Vida Marie Grammer and husband, Nathan and Bobby Gene Addison.  8 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Dan Crane, Alvie Lynn Addison, Robert Anthony, Michael Addison and Nathan Grammer.
