Mr. Thomas Douglas Sartor, 83, passed away on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Baptist Memorial Hospital of North Mississippi, leaving behind a life well lived and deeply rooted in faith, family, and service.
A time of remembrance will be held Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. in the Chapel of Waller Funeral Home with Rev. Jerry East, Rev. Jim Petermann, and Pastor Chris Coury officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation beginning at 9:30 A.M., prior to the service. Tom will be laid to rest at Hopewell Cemetery.
Tom’s story began on September 9, 1942, in Memphis, where he was born to the late Charles Douglas and Iris Hamilton Sartor. He met and married the love of his life, Anna Marie Bryant “Marie,” and together they built a marriage that spanned nearly 64 years—a partnership marked by devotion, strength, and enduring love.
Faith was the cornerstone of Tom’s life. Over the years, he grew spiritually through his involvement at Taylor Baptist Church, West Marks Baptist Church, and most recently at First Baptist Church of Oxford. His walk with the Lord was steady and sincere, and his life reflected a quiet, unwavering commitment to his Savior, Jesus Christ.
Tom was a man who believed in showing up—for his community, for his neighbors, and for causes that mattered. He gave his time generously, stepping into leadership roles with organizations such as Mended Hearts Chapter 330, Old Methodist Campground, Punkin Water Association, Hopewell Cemetery, the Mississippi Forestry Commission, and Soil and Water Conservation. He also invested in the next generation, volunteering with local schools and helping lead students in Envirothon competitions—encouraging them not only to learn, but to care for the world around them.
When he wasn’t serving others, Tom could most often be found outdoors. He loved to hunt and took great pleasure in running beagles, embracing the simple, steady rhythm of country life. Yet even more than the woods or the fields, Tom cherished time spent with his family. You could find him on the sidelines or in the stands, faithfully watching his children and grandchildren. Whether it was a small game or a big moment, he was there—cheering them on, sharing in their victories, and enthusiastically standing by them through every season. Those were the moments that filled his heart with pride and brought him his greatest joy.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his stepfather, Claude Pace.
He leaves behind a legacy of love in his devoted wife, Marie Sartor; his daughters, Dina Coury (Chris) of Atoka, Tennessee, and Connie Robinson (Patrick) of Oxford, Mississippi; his sister, Barbara Sue Harris (and the late Joe Harris) of Memphis, Tennessee; his grandchildren, Sarah Coury, Christopher Coury (Stefanie), Bethany Coury, Thomas Coury, Holly Downs (Kirk), and Emily Norwood (Andrew); and his great-grandchildren, Campbell Downs and Trey Coury. He is also survived by many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins who will remember him fondly.
